The typical requirement for this course is 120-136 UCAS points. You could achieve this with:
- A levels: BBB
- BTEC Extended Diploma: Distinction Distinction Merit
- Access to HE course: 122 UCAS points, normally with 30 Distinctions and 9 Merits
You’ll also need a GCSE at grade C/4 or above in English Language. We accept equivalent qualifications, such as Functional/Key skills Level 2 in literacy.
DBS and checks
Admission is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check, including checks against the Adult and Child Workforce Barring Lists.
Work experience
We consider relevant prior work, volunteering, study or personal experience. You should reflect on what you've learned from this and how it might help you develop skills, values and knowledge related to social work. You can include school experience or placements undertaken as part of an Access or BTEC course.
Personal Statement
Make sure you give clear, complete details of your relevant experience in your Personal Statement, including what you have done, hours per week and duration. Your Personal Statement should also explain why you want to train as a social worker. It should be well-written, with no grammar or spelling errors. It plays a significant role in our decision about whether to shortlist you.
Interview
If your initial application is successful, we’ll invite you to an online interview with an academic and either a teaching partner or a person with lived experience. You will also need to complete a short written assessment online.
English language requirement for this course: an IELTS score of 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in all elements.
