Access our Academic Skills Centres
Get one-to-one coursework support from lecturers and student advisers at one of our Academic Skills Centres located on each campus. You can access support programmes for speaking, writing and maths skills here too.
You’ll be assigned a personal tutor at the beginning of your degree. They will be on hand to:
- Meet with you regularly throughout your studies
- Offer guidance on studying, student life and career progression
- Discuss issues and developments you experience during your course
- Answer questions about your academic studies
- Signpost you to further support
Mentoring schemes are a great way to get a new perspective and build your confidence. At Kingston, we offer a number of mentoring programmes, including:
- Peer-to-peer schemes to support your transition to university
- Academic mentoring to help build your confidence
- Our Beyond Barriers scheme, which pairs students from underrepresented groups with professional mentors
If English is not your first language, you can boost your confidence and skills with one of our free language courses, which run throughout the academic year.
Taking a course with a maths component? MathsAid is here to boost your skills with a mix of one-to-one sessions with trained tutors, peer-assisted learning and virtual learning.
You’ll find libraries with welcoming, accessible opening hours on every campus. Our Penrhyn Road library has 24-hour access during term time.
When you become a Kingston student, you’ll get access to a digital toolkit. Use the KU app to check your timetable, log into your Kingston desktop from anywhere and access course materials through our virtual learning environment, Canvas.
