About
I joined the Department of Social Work and Social Care in 2013 and have held a variety of roles within the Department and Faculty. I am currently the course leader for the BA (Hons) Social Work Integrated Degree Apprenticeship. I am both a registered social worker and a lawyer, and teach across both disciplines. I qualified as a social worker in 1992 and specialised in work with children and families. I later studied law at Kingston University and was awarded an LLB with first class honours, and then gained an M(Res) Law, Culture and Identity from Birkbeck College. Previously, I studied English at the University of Stirling and Social Work at the University of Aberdeen. I am also an accredited mediator. I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
