Professor Andrea Petroczi

About

Following a Lecturer post at the Semmelweis University (Hungary) and full time PhD (U.S.), I joined Kingston University as a Senior Lecturer in 2001, progressed my career to a Principal Lecturer in 2005 and Reader in 2009 to my current appointment as a Research Professor in 2010. I am also a Senior Research Fellow at the Eötvös Loránd University (Hungary). I also hold an adjunct position at ‘Foro Italico' University of Rome (Italy). I am a founding member of the Clean Sport Alliance (CSA) and a research fellow at the Willibald Gebhardt Institute (WGI) in Münster, Germany.

During my academic career, I have worked across many disciplines cutting across science and social science. I am internationally recognised for my research in doping and regularly providing consultancy to the World Anti-Doping Agency.

  • I chaired the WADA Working Group on Doping Prevalence (2017 - 2023), served as a member between 2011-2012, and I am member of the current Doping Prevalence Working Group
  • I am a member of the World Olympians Association Medical Committee (2022 - present)

I champion open science, transparency and ethical authorship. I chaired the University Research Ethics committee for over 10 years and I was instrumental in developing the institutional electronic submission and review system for research ethics. I am passionate about training and helping the next generation of researchers and involved in training PhD students for the 3-Minute-Thesis competition.

I am ranked in the Stanford University list of the world's top 2% scientists.

My Erdös number is 4 in the sequence of Paul Erdös - János Komlós - Gábor Tusnády - László Négyessy/Tamás Nepusz/Fülöp Bazsó.
