Excellence in art and design research
Kingston School of Art is an international hub for creative research, spanning fine arts, design, architecture, literature and performing arts. With globally recognised researchers and strong ties to industry and cultural institutions, our work blends innovation with critical practice.
The School’s research was recognised as world-leading in the Research Excellence Framework (REF), with over 70% of outputs rated as internationally excellent or higher.
Supported by strong funding from bodies like the AHRC, Wellcome Trust and Horizon 2020, it has produced ambitious projects like the Eadweard Muybridge web portal and recycled materials research.
Partnerships include the Tate, V&A and the NHS. Postgraduate students benefit from hands-on projects and grants through TECHNE and LDOC (The London Doctoral Design Research Centre), creating future leaders in art and design research.
