About
I am a senior lecturer in simulated learning and clinical skills. I joined the faculty in September 2021.
I have been a registered nurse since 1996. I worked as a staff nurse and deputy ward manager in emergency department. My interest in student supervision and mentoring lead to my teaching qualification and into education in 2006. I completed a Masters in Health Sciences and Degree Programme for Health Science Teacher in 2008 from Oulu University in Finland.
I worked in Oulu University of Applied Sciences in Finland for 10 years and have a wide understanding of nursing education. I am keen to ensure that student nurses have a good learning experience both in university and on placement. This is to ensure that student nurses become the best nurses who can safely and effectively care for patients.
I previously worked in an education team in the NHS trust as a clinical skills and simulation lead and I have strong practice links and working partnerships with practice providers.
My interests in teaching are endless but to highlight some topics I enjoy teaching are all clinical skills, human factors and non-technical skills, medicine management, research studies and the art of ECG interpretation.
