About
I studied for my first degree in Civil and Structural Engineering at the University of Sheffield. After working for an engineering consultancy, I decided to pursue an academic career and joined the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Fluid Mechanics research group at UCL. My PhD investigated the scour behaviour of offshore pipelines when subject to two-directional flows.
On completion of my PhD, I was employed as a researcher for the University of Surrey working on a project investigating a shear sensitive liquid crystal for mapping shear stress concentrations on aircraft via the change in colour spectrum linked to the shear stress generated in the flow field.
Since working at Kingston, I have been investigating the performance of Waterwheels and Reverse Archimedes Screws and their use in hydropower, river water quality analysis and general hydraulic modelling of structures.
