About
I have worked as an academic in nutrition in institutions in the US and UK in both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. I also am a registered dietitian (RD) and nutritionist (RNutr). I completed my doctorate within the interdepartmental nutrition program at Purdue University, Indiana. I then moved to Massachusetts for postdoctoral training, initially at Brandeis University in their neuroscience programme and then the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University in the area of nutrition, exercise physiology and sarcopenia.
I was hired as a lecturer in nutrition at Kingston University London in 2021. My research background consists mostly of investigations in older adults where I have examined the efficacy of nutritional supplementation and resistance exercise on physical function performance. More recently, having completed an MPH at Edinburgh University and developed an interest in mixed-methods and ethnography, my work now also engages with food and nutritional anthropology to examine the intersections between ageing, health, and disease or illness.
In the wider scientific community, I have promoted nutrition education in medical training, and am an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Domains
Below are my outputs with links to the Kingston University Research Repository.
I was in the life sciences cohort of the prestigious 2022 BIG South London Innovation Support Programme, a collaboration between the Institute of Cancer Research and BIG South London. The programme arose from the need to create new technologies, services, apps, and innovations as the result of the impact of COVID-19. It is a fully-funded programme providing support for growth and development to select South-London-based businesses or third sector organisations. The programme aims to help businesses remain relevant and profitable in a changing market, no matter at what stage of the innovation journey. It assists by providing advice about several areas of the innovation process, e.g. intellectual property, scaling-up, securing finance and funding, and university engagement.
I am in the process of developing a business, which the BIG South London programme has provided guidance on, particularly in establishing it in the London area (and eventually beyond). My goal is to offer a variety of dietary products designed to address specific health conditions, improve physical performance, and promote healthy eating in general. The products are culturally diverse. The business model is based on direct-to-consumer as well as private labelling, and aims to collaborate with hospitals and national supermarkets.
I am the Module Leader of LS4013, Introduction to Food and Nutrition, and LS6032, Public Health Nutrition.
