About
Greetings! I'm Constance, a chartered engineer and senior lecturer in mechanical engineering based at Kingston University's Roehampton Vale campus. My academic journey has been both diverse and rewarding.
My tenure at Kingston began in September 2021, following five fruitful years at Guildford College in the UK. Prior to my UK experience, I dedicated over seven years to teaching mechanical engineering at various prestigious universities in Malaysia. This journey has equipped me with a wealth of knowledge and experiences that I bring to my current role.
As the Course Director for Advanced Product Design Engineering and Manufacturing (MSc), I'm thrilled about the opportunity to shape the course and welcome potential students and collaborators. I'm passionate about enhancing the curriculum to meet industry standards, ensuring our graduates are well-prepared for the challenges of the modern engineering landscape.
My research interests lie primarily in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. I aim to make a significant contribution to the field, particularly in bone tissue engineering. My research encompasses diverse subfields such as additive manufacturing, bioprinting, vascularization studies, and wound healing stimulations. Through my work, I aspire to develop innovative solutions for bone-related medical challenges while exploring the integration of advanced technologies into my projects, including those within Industry 4.0.
I'm actively involved as a board member of the Biomedical Division of IMechE UK, where I collaborate with peers to foster innovation in the field. Additionally, I find fulfilment in mentoring within the Women in Engineering Society, UK, where I strive to inspire and support the next generation of engineering talent.
Driven by a passion for learning and discovery, I'm dedicated to making meaningful contributions to engineering education and research, leaving a lasting impact on the profession.
Feel free to reach out – I'm always excited to connect and explore opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange.

One of the most powerful models of learning in my opinion is the Bloom's Taxonomy. This is particularly useful as my teaching style involves a lot of problem-based approaches. I deliver this through group discussions, projects, research works and debates, to name a few. I usually collect work samples from the workshops, especially the faulty ones as a teaching resource.
Using the Bloom's Taxonomy as a reference, I always start the teaching process with a basic question, which may relate to the recent topics that I would have covered in a lesson. From there, I will try and scaffold the learners to deeper learning, covering each stage of the taxonomy. This allows all my learners to engage in the lesson more effectively; active discussions are always something that learners can anticipate in my classroom. This encourages surface learners to dig a little deeper into a topic, and the higher level learners to challenge themselves even more.
Bloom's Taxonomy has proved time and time again that it encourages creative thinking to encourage innovation amongst the learners, especially those who are about to graduate. It hinders learners from being complacent with what they already know and helps keep them weaving through the knowledge to a stage of continuous learning and improvement. This attitude is extremely important for engineering graduates and is one of the attributes most valued by the industry as well.
