The typical requirement for this course is a 2:2 or above honours degree in a related art, design or craft subject. We also value appropriate professional experience.
If you have relevant experience or qualifications in other subjects, we will consider your application individually
Portfolio
Please submit a portfolio with 3–5 examples of your research process, subject interests, idea development and project outcomes.
We are looking for your potential to succeed on the course, and welcome applicants with diverse experiences or educational backgrounds. We will review your portfolio with four key values in mind:
- Questioning
- Curiosity
- Technical ability
- Enthusiasm
You could include:
- Evidence of how you developed your ideas through research, drawing, making, digital skills and experimentation
- Final prototypes and visuals
- Films or other types of media
- A video, blog or social media account
Your portfolio should:
- Be 15-20 pages long, in landscape orientation.
- Be a print-based or interactive PDF file.
- Include a title and brief description for each project, explaining your intentions and individual involvement.
- Contain moving image works (maximum 5 minutes) uploaded to Vimeo, YouTube or other sharing platform. Please make sure these links are active and work on all platforms.
- Contain high quality images of at least 72 dpi.
Personal statement
You’ll also need to submit a 300-word personal statement highlighting your interest in design, sustainability and this course. Your statement should also explain the wider social, cultural, and political interests in your work.
English language requirement for this course: Academic IELTS of 6.5 overall, with no element below 5.5.
