Speaker(s): NHS Blood and Transplant Team
Come down to the University foyer (PR campus, next to the main reception) on the 9th of April and learn about what plasma is, how it is helping thousands of people across the UK and how you can become involved by registering to become a donor. You can also find out your blood type at our what's your blood type station, with a simple pinprick test that takes a matter of minutes.
Blood plasma donation is relatively new concept and this year we are aiming to increase awareness and the number of blood plasma donors help serve the UK's 17,000 (and growing) population that depend on this life saving medicine. Plasma is extracted from red blood for its immunity and healing properties which can be turned into medicines that fight over 50 infectious diseases, neurological disorders and injuries. These range from auto-immune deficiencies to cancer patients and new-born babies with heart irregularities.
