About
I am a Professor of Art History at Kingston University and Co-Director of The Visual and Material Culture Research Centre. I studied the History of Art at the University of Manchester, specialising in modern and contemporary art.
I have published widely on contemporary and modern visual culture, and have over 20 years' experience collaborating on a variety of international interdisciplinary creative arts projects and exhibitions across the museums and galleries sector.
I established the Kingston School of Art Archive at Kingston University and I am currently researching émigré artists in post-war Britain and contemporary performance art and activism in Japan.
