About
I joined the midwifery department at Kingston University as a senior lecturer in 2016. I am now an Associate Professor and Course Leader for pre registration Midwifery Courses. I also lead on the Bodies and Birth Midwifery Modules. I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA) supporting students and staff within the department. I initially qualified as a nurse in 2003 at Kingston University and then undertook my Masters degree shortly after in 2004. I later completed my Midwifery training back at Kingston University and as an alumni, I am proud to return here in my lecturing role. I have been a practising midwife in various roles within the NHS including: delivery suite coordinator, senior community midwife, practice development Midwife and clinical governance support Midwife.

As course Leader I oversee the Pre registration Midwifery programmes here at Kingston University. I am also the Teaching & Learning department lead, and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I am proud to have been recognised for 2 awards at Kingston University. The first was The International Women's Day - Top 10 Women to Watch in HSSCE 2023. This campaign was to develop a culture of belonging, create a network of inspiring role models and showcase the incredible work that women are doing in HSSCE. The second award was for the KU people awards nomination 2023. The awards celebrate colleagues' achievements from across the University and this nomination recognises the dedication, commitment, and passion brought to my role and for demonstrating the University's values.

Course director
I am currently undertaking a Doctorate of Education. I have a specialist interest in gamification techniques in Midwifery education. I will also be working with department research leads to expand our research outputs.
I have completed the RISE academy at KU to enhance my research leadership. I am using this development opportunity to reflect on my personal vision for expanding my career into research, deeper understanding of research leadership qualities and strategically leading research at local/national/international levels.

Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA) Steering group - developing a National Operational Strategy to include development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for monitoring and evaluation implementation of the A-EQUIP model and PMA training.
Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA) South England - Participation and contribution to professional national learning and teaching and to discuss any themes or issues that happening in clinical practice or education and enhances knowledge exchange for professional issues.
