About
Prior to taking a 0.6 position at Kingston School of Art, I was a visiting lecturer, guest lecturer and hourly paid lecturer for over twenty years at a number of higher education institutes. Besides the BA and MA Illustration Animation courses and BA Graphic Design course at Kingston, I have taught at University of the West of England, London College of Communication, Central Saint Martins, University of the Creative Arts and American Intercontinental University.
I have run workshops and one-off projects for University of Westminster, Camberwell College of Art, North Cornwall Arts, Zita International film festival (Stockholm), The Lakes International Comics festival and AniMaidstone festival.
I supervise extra-curricular and paid "live" projects for Kingston animation students and early career alumni (most notably John Lewis with FareShare and Home-Start, Christmas 2020).
Outside of higher education, I have had a diverse career in film and television as an animation director, animator, character designer, creature concept designer, puppet designer/performer, sculptor, storyboard artist, story editor and screenwriter.
Qualifications
- MA Animation - Royal College of Art
- BA(Hons) First Class Graphic Design - UWE
- Fellow of Higher Education Academy
Domains
As a Senior Lecturer on Level 5 of BA illustration animation I deal predominantly with moving image projects across all modules. I am responsible for L5 tuition (devising and delivering lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials and reviews), assessment and feedback, module administration, course representative liaison, module review and development, and quality assurance processes.
I have 20 years of experience teaching across four courses at Kingston and 25 years teaching in the wider HE sector. I use this experience to identify innovative approaches to learning and teaching and embed them into the curriculum.
In 2022 I played a leading role in the curriculum design aspect of the validation process for the new MA Animation course that is due to start in September 2023.
