About
I joined the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in September 2016, where I currently serve as a senior lecturer in Aircraft Structures and Materials. I earned my PhD in Physical Sciences from Anna University, India, with part of my doctoral research conducted at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan, through a Monbusho Fellowship awarded by the Government of Japan.
Following my PhD, I received the prestigious STA Postdoctoral Fellowship, allowing me to pursue research on porous materials for high-temperature applications at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Nagoya, Japan. I later became a research scientist at AIST and was honoured with the Young Asian Scientist Presentation Award by the Ceramic Society of Japan in 2002.
Prior to joining Kingston University, I spent over a decade at the Centre for Advanced Structural Ceramics, Department of Materials, Imperial College London. During this time, I worked extensively on the development of Thermal Protection Systems (TPS) for hypersonic applications as part of the UK Space Programme, in collaboration with the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), UK, and the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory.
I hold 19 patents and have authored over 123 peer-reviewed publications in my field. Additionally, I have presented more than 100 conference papers, including invited and plenary talks. I actively contribute as a reviewer for various leading journals and currently serve as an editor for Aerospace and Research Progress in Ceramic Coatings.

I study the relation between processing, properties and microstructures in a broad range of ceramics.
My research interests include:

I have 19 patents and have published over 123 peer-reviewed papers in the above-mentioned research. I presented over 100 papers in conferences including many invited and plenary lectures. I am also acting as a reviewer in many reputed journals.
I have been awarded research funding totalling £497K from SCG chemicals (Thailand) to develop "High emissivity coatings for cracking furnaces" (Mentioned researcher/co-investigator), £265K from Rolls-Royce (USA/UK) for the development of "Environmental barrier coatings for SiC/SiC composites" (Co-Investigator) and £250K from Office of Naval Research Global (USA), for the development of "Oxidation resistant C/C composites for aerospace applications" (Investigator). I was also a mentioned researcher in the UK MoD space programme to develop "Ultra-high temperature ceramic materials for aerospace applications" funded by Dstl, UK for a sum of £600K.
