About
In 2016, I earned a PhD from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. My research focused on evaluating the impact of genetically-modified organisms (GMO) on blood cellular components and hematopoietic growth factors. Additionally, I investigated the immunosuppressive effects of repeated allogeneic blood transfusions.
Prior to my doctoral studies, I completed both a masters and a bachelors degree in the field of hematology and blood transfusion science. I am a fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Science (FIBMS), West African Postgraduate College of Medical Laboratory Science (FWAPCMLS), Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (FMLSCN) and active member of numerous professional organisations including the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT).
With more than 15 years of experience in teaching, research, clinical practice, learning support, and administration, my career has been diverse. In addition to teaching, I have served as a biomedical scientist and am presently registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). My current PhD students are exploring the role of inflammatory cytokines in patients who have received multiple transfusions after vaso-occlusive crises. I also participate in other external supervision/collaboration and portfolio verification for the Institute of Biomedical Science.
I have published over 40 peer-reviewed scientific research articles, served on editorial boards and as external examiner for undergraduate, postgraduate and professional examinations. I am interested in supervising candidates with laboratory-based research projects within my expertise.
