About
I am a chartered engineer (IET) and member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology. I am a member of the South West London branch of the IMechE and membership representative at Kingston University. I am the IET membership representative at Kingston University. In addition, I am currently an external at South Wales University in Wales, and have been an external examiner at University of Huddersfield, London Metropolitan University and Farnborough College of Technology.
I was personal tutor lead for the Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Departments at Kingston University. This role included implementation of the Personal Tutor Scheme (PTS) within the Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Departments.
Qualifications
- Doctorate in Electrical Engineering (Imperial College - London)
- Masters in Digital Electronics (King's College - London)
- Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education
- BSc Degree in Electronics (Kent University)
- Associateship of the City and Guilds of London Institute (ACGI)
- Diploma of the Imperial College (DIC)
Domains
I have a strong interest in aircraft systems and futuristic aircraft and modelling of Mars rovers vehicles. The modelling approach extends to biomechanics, which was the case in the successfully completed supervision of a masters by research student (Director of Studies), "Design of a Mars Rover Mobility Systems" Journal of the British Interplanetary Society", Volume 65 No. 2/3 February / March 2012.
Courses taught
I have research interests in aircraft systems, Mars rovers and finite element analysis (FEA) of materials for space applications and control electronics in the Engineering School.
I have supervised four postgraduate research students in the areas of planetary mobility systems, electric propulsion and network communications. These students have been funded by my Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) grants, which enable companies to develop new products. I was lead academic for two KTP programmes in the areas of airport services. My main teaching areas are in aircraft electrical systems, aircraft communications, digital signal processing and microelectronics.
I have been an external examiner for electrical / electronics programmers at Farnborough College, London Metropolitan and I am currently an external examiner at South Wales University. Also, I have been an external examiner for doctorate vivas at South Glamorgan University, Wrexham University, Leeds University and Huddersfield University.
I am a member and chartered engineer with the Institute of Engineering Technology. I am a member of the South West London branch of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and membership representative at Kingston University. Also, I am the Institute of Engineering Technology membership representative at Kingston University.
