About
My work is engaged in what is frequently described as an expanded painting practice. It begins within the history of two-dimensional painting and expands to include performance, video and sculpture. Through installation work I explore the nature of painting, its relationship to historical quotation, labour, cultural politics and positions of decadence.
I have exhibited widely, at venues such as the Sydney Biennale, the Migros Museum, Zurich, Whitechapel Gallery, the Hayward Gallery, Serpentine Gallery for Park Nights in London, Tramway for Glasgow International, the New Art Centre at Roche Court, and Bluecoat in Liverpool.
I attended University of California, Los Angeles for my BA and completed my MFA at Art Center College of Design, Pasadena. I came to London in 2002 as the recipient of the Royal Academy Schools' Starr Fellowship, having lived and worked here since.
At Kingston, I teach on BA Fine Art and supervise PhD students.
