Paul Bishop Design Scholarship launched at Kingston School of Art aims to increase access to design courses for aspiring students

A new scholarship, supported by Kingston University graduate and award-winning international designer Paul Bishop, has launched to give an opportunity to one prospective interior design or product and furniture design student. The scholarship includes a 100% fee waiver as well as an annual £5,000 living allowance bursary for all three years of the course.

A team of student engineers from Kingston University are set to pit their race car against others from around the world after arriving at Silverstone for the annual Formula Student competition. The University team, supported by academics and technicians from the Faculty of Science, Computing and Engineering, have spent the past 18 months designing and building a single seater race car which they will put to the test in a series of gruelling events at the home of British motorsport.

The chief executive of the British Red Cross spoke of his pride in how the organisation had made a difference to the lives of some of the world's most vulnerable and marginalised people, after the Kingston University alumnus was made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in this year's Queen's Birthday Honours. Michael Adamson, who took up the position of chief executive in 2014 having been with British Red Cross since 2010, was recognised for his contributions to the humanitarian sector and his role in the Red Cross movement.

Kingston University law students to take on teams from around the globe in finals of prestigious International Criminal Court Moot competition

Students from Kingston University's Department of Law have made it to the final stage of this year's International Criminal Court's (ICC) Moot Court Competition. The competition sees law students based at universities across the world compete in a court debate simulating the ICC, called a moot, with the finals usually taking place at The Hague in The Netherlands. This year the event will be held virtually, and Kingston University is one of just six UK institutions represented in the competition. The finals this year takes place throughout June.

The theme for International Women's Day this year is #ChooseToChallenge, with people being encouraged to share photographs of themselves on social media raising a hand to demonstrate a commitment to calling out inequality, alongside the campaign hashtag. As part of this year's theme, Kingston University has been inviting members of its community to share their own commitment to choosing to challenge inequality, call out bias, question stereotypes, and help forge an inclusive world. The exhibition showcases new work from designers, fine artists, journalists and creative writers each responding to one of three curated quotes from William Morris around protest and social commentary, innovation and technology, and usefulness and beauty.
