Kingston School of Art's MFA Fine Art students are showing their final projects in an exhibition at the prestigious Saatchi Gallery in London designed to support and highlight talented new artists after a challenging year of restrictions.

Leading space engineer and Kingston University alumna opens new learning hub on campus named in her honour

A new social learning space named after UK space engineer and Kingston University alumna Anita Bernie has opened its doors at the institution's Roehampton Vale Campus. Ms Bernie was on hand to meet students and cut the ribbon to officially unveil the new Bernie Hub in the campus' Hawker Wing building. The new room was set up to provide a dedicated networking and social space for engineering students, which a suite of computers and seating areas to encourage collaborative learning.

Kingston University's Town House has been named the winner of the 2021 Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Stirling Prize – confirming it as Britain's best new building. Designed by RIBA Gold Medal-winning Grafton Architects, the landmark building on the University's Penrhyn Road campus received the highest accolade in UK architecture at a prestigious ceremony at Coventry Cathedral.

Kingston University recognised by National Cyber Security Centre as an Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Education

Kingston University's commitment to promoting excellent cyber security education has been recognised with a prestigious silver award by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), which is part of GCHQ. This means the University has been named an Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Education (ACE-CSE) by the government agency – a feat achieved by only 11 other higher education institutions across the United Kingdom. The ACE-CSE programme aims to help close the UK's cyber skills gap by supporting the next generation of cyber experts.

Kingston University's Lab in a Lorry mobile education centre has been transformed into a Jab in a Lorry vaccination clinic to offer students a first dose of the Pfizer vaccine as they arrive on campus for the start of the academic year. Based at the Penrhyn Road campus, the Lab in a Lorry – usually used by academics and outreach officers to open up the world of science to school children across the capital – has been temporarily converted into a pop-up vaccination centre. It will open its doors to new and returning students during several sessions over the coming fortnight.

From wooden giraffe toys to a new future for concrete: Kingston University PhD student's presentation earns place in Three Minute Thesis national final

A postgraduate engineering student whose research could help drive sustainable innovations in the concrete industry has reached the national final of this year's Vitae Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition – with a little help from a childhood toy. Ana Pavlovi?, from Belgrade in Serbia, has been exploring the use of a common volcanic rock, basalt, as an emerging alternative material to steel for reinforcing concrete structures as part of her PhD, having already completed a Masters degree at Kingston University and a second Masters at the University of Belgrade.

Stephanie Bader, a single mum of two, started her journey at Kingston University having secured her place through Clearing. Three years later, she has graduated with a first class honours degree in working with children and young people and is set to start the postgraduate Master of Social Work course in the next academic year.
