The theme for International Women's Day this year is #ChooseToChallenge, with people being encouraged to share photographs of themselves on social media raising a hand to demonstrate a commitment to calling out inequality, alongside the campaign hashtag. As part of this year's theme, Kingston University has been inviting members of its community to share their own commitment to choosing to challenge inequality, call out bias, question stereotypes, and help forge an inclusive world. Kingston University is teaming up with Achieving for Children and Sutton Council to offer aspiring social workers a chance to train and qualify within 14 months through a Department for Education (DfE) initiative.

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, learning disability and palliative care expert at Kingston University and St George's, University of London Professor Irene Tuffrey-Wijne has been campaigning to ensure those with learning disabilities were prioritised for a vaccine. It's been announced the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) advised the government everyone on the GP learning disability register should be fast-tracked for a jab. Professor Tuffrey-Wijne gave her reaction to the news she had been calling for.
