Kingston School of Art students work with Kingston Council to boost community engagement in a pilot urban room

The students worked with Kingston Council to create the urban room as an inviting and adaptable multiple-purpose space to host events and showcase information. It was used to support the Council's consultation on the first draft of the new Local Plan and is currently being used to seek people's views on the vision for the Kingston town centre area.

Obesity crisis: Kingston University nutrition expert says early childhood intervention vital to defying predictions more than half of humans could be overweight by 2035

A new report by the World Obesity Federation (WOF) has said more than half of the world's population will be obese or overweight by 2035 if significant action isn't taken. The federation's 2023 atlas also predicted that childhood obesity levels could more than double over the next 12 years to around 208 million boys and 175 million girls. Associate Professor in Nutrition at Kingston University Dr Hilda Mulrooney explains her thoughts on the report's findings and what measures should be taken to stop obesity levels rising.

Creative design to end tussle for middle armrest on aeroplanes scoops three prizes in annual Kingston University Bright Ideas competition

An innovative solution to the never-ending battle for who gets to use the middle armrest on planes was among the winning entries in this year's Kingston University Bright Ideas competition. The eighteenth annual final of the entrepreneurial contest saw students from across the University pitch their ideas before a group of expert investors in a Dragons' Den-style event.
