The KU mobile app allows you to access key information and services that you may find useful for your academic, co-curricular and social activities. The app will also keep you up to date with important information and messages. There's also a section dedicated just for Welcome Week.
When will I get access?
You can access the Welcome section without a username and password (from 1 August 2024). Once you've enrolled you will be able to switch to the Student profile.
How to get the Kingston University app
Download the app by searching ‘Kingston University' in your app store. To log in, enter your Kingston University username, (e.g. K123456), and your password. You won't need a username or password to access the dedicated Welcome section.
You can also access the KU app on a web browser.
Canvas is Kingston University's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). This platform is used by staff and students to support you throughout your modules and courses. You can access it via a web browser and through the mobile app.
When will I get access?
You will be able to access Canvas once you have completed your online enrolment.
How to access Canvas
Open the Canvas web page. Use your Kingston email address (e.g. k123456@kingston.ac.uk) and the password you use to log in to OSIS.

Search "Canvas" in your app store. Once the app is installed on your device:
- Enter 'Kingston University' in the 'Find your school or district' text box.
- Select the 'Kingston University' link that appears
- Use your Kingston University email address (e.g. K123456@kingston.ac.uk) and the password you use to log in to OSIS.
KUextra is our online events platform. Once you officially join us, this is where you'll find all the events and activities that run at Kingston. The Welcome programme is available to view on KUextra now!
When will I get access?
You can browse events on KUextra now, but you will only be able to book events once you have completed your online enrolment.
How to access KUextra
Head to the KUextra website, log in using your Kingston ID number and password and get booking!
My Kingston is our intranet for students. It contains a wide range of useful information about life at the University. The site contains the latest Kingston news, information about your faculty and timetable, the library, the students' union and accommodation along with the full range of resources and support services available to you.
When will I get access?
You will be able to access My Kingston once you have completed your online enrolment.
How to access My Kingston?
You can access My Kingston using the same login information as Canvas and OSIS – your Kingston University username followed by ‘@kingston.ac.uk' (e.g. K123456@kingston.ac.uk) and your password.
Once you've completed your online enrolment, you'll gain access to your university email address. This is the email address the University will use to communicate with you during your time at Kingston. You'll also be able to use it to activate other software including the Office 365 package. Your email address will be your k number followed by @kingston.ac.uk (e.g. k123456@kingston.ac.uk).
You can access your email address on a web browser by going to mymail.kingston.ac.uk or setting your email up on the Outlook mobile app (available in your phone's App Store).
To access University resources, you'll need to set up Multi Factor Authentication. Follow these simple steps:
- Go to www.mfa.kingston.ac.uk and sign in with your username and password.
- There are two ways to set up Multi Factor Authentication – either by installing the Microsoft Authenticator App on your phone or by receiving a text message.
- If using the app, you can follow the instructions on screen or if you want to receive a text message with a code select the "I want to set up a different method" option below the main text.
- With either method, follow the instructions and once you've completed them, you'll be asked to authenticate.
We offer free WiFi, Eduroam, at all our campuses. To connect you'll need to sign in using your username, which is your K number followed by @kingston.ac.uk (K12345@kingston.ac.uk) and then your password.

If you've forgotten your password, you can use our online forgotten password tool. You must supply the personal email address you have recorded via OSIS/enrolment.
- Check your personal email account, as you will receive a 'Kingston University Account Support Request' email from Kingston University Support
- Open the email, follow the link, enter your new password and submit.
- You can now log in with your new password.
