Materials and metrology labs

Our materials and metrology labs provide equipment and facilities for hands-on experience. Qualified technicians are available to offer help and support.

The materials lab allows you to study the structural properties of a broad range of materials. For example:

heat treatment ovens demonstrate the effect of heat on materials;
you can study the results using our state-of-the-art test machines, enabling both destructive and non-destructive testing; and
you can undertake further structural analysis with our micro-analysis equipment.

Our metrology laboratory is fully equipped to measure manufactured parts and assemblies. The facilities range from conventional measuring equipment (such as micrometers and vernier callipers) up to a state-of-the-art co-ordinate measuring machine (CMM).
