About

I am Professor of Civil Engineering with over 30 years' of experience working in higher education, and have held teaching, research, and leadership positions at three universities: including leadership and management positions as Faculty Lead for Apprenticeship and Academic Partnerships (2022-), University Head of Apprenticeships (2018-21), Head of Schools (2023- , 2009-18), Faculty Lead for International Relations & Engagement (2012-15), and Director of Engineering Research (2009-11) at Kingston University.

I am a Chartered Engineer (CEng), a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining and was also registered as a Chartered Scientist (CSci, 2001-15).

I have worked extensively with different sectors of the industry, primarily focused at developing creative practical solutions and address knowledge & skills gaps through apprenticeship trailblazer group, Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education (Construction & the Built Environment Route Panel member), University Vocational Awards Council (Director), and Joint Board of Moderators (JBM Board Deputy Chair & Sub-committee Chair).

For many years, I have also played an active role in quality assurance, enhancement, and academic career development, nationally & internationally, working as an external examiner, quality assessor as well as conducting validations & accreditations (JBM), CEng Professional Reviewer & Apprenticeship End Point Assessor (ICE).

My research interests include advancement of concrete technology, waste materials recycling for reuse, construction materials, smart cities for citizen well-being, sustainable & resilient built environment. I have published 15 books/ conference proceedings, over 100 peer-reviewed papers with 4000+ citations, 26 h-index, 39 i10-index, and successfully supervised over 50 PhD & Post-doctoral researchers so far. An expert evaluator of the research projects submitted for the EU funding.

For last three consecutive years, named in the World's Top 2% Scientists list as the most-cited outputs in the field of "Building & Construction" published by the Stanford University.
