Ms Kay Liu

About

I am a Lecturer in Sustainable Fashion for the MA: Business and Practices at Kingston University. Alongside my teaching role, I am a consultant in sustainability and circularity specialising in identifying and implementing scalable and replicable solutions to fashion and textile waste for private clients.

In my earlier career, I worked as a textile designer in London after graduating in woven textile design. I then spent three years working for a women's empowerment artisan association in Nepal, where I embarked on my career dedicated to sustainable fashion and textiles. In 2007, I obtained a Master's degree in Ethical Fashion at the University for the Creative Arts, where I researched the impacts of the cotton supply chain and its associated consumer communication. I then spent nearly a decade working in Hong Kong for an environmental NGO in devising their educational strategies in circular fashion design and consumer engagement programmes with multi-stakeholders, including their international higher education network, government agencies, and industry partners, and launched their takeback initiatives with global fashion brands.
