Mr Peter Case

About

My professional performing arts practice has been rooted in experimentation since being awarded my MFA from the Columbia University School of the Arts in the City of New York in 2001.  Shortly after graduating I joined the influential La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club and became a member of their resident performance company, The Great Jones Rep and staff member at La MaMa Umbria International in Italy with whom I continue to engage regularly.  Most recently (2023) I directed and performed an opera version of William Blake's The Book of Thel within a medieval ruin in the Italian countryside.  I have worked as an actor, director, designer and teacher nationally and internationally.  I was an associate artist at Wilton's Music Hall in East London, where I directed a number of different productions including, The Love Suicides at Sonezaki, Spinning Machines and Visions.  At La MaMa I performed in many shows including the title role in Herakles and directed Death and the Ploughman and Shekinah.  My current areas of practice research focus on multidisciplinary potentials in performance looking at site-specific/responsive settings, emerging technologies, Butoh dance, object animation/theatre, puppetry along with new and adapted texts synthesizing movement with acting.  I believe anything is possible.  My teaching includes work at Columbia University, MFA supervision at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and Kingston University.
