I have been lecturing at Kingston University since 2016. Prior to this I was the Ward Manager of Jupiter Ward at Springfield Hospital. I have been nursing since 2003, during which I studied at Kingston University. My nursing career was based entirely on acute wards, though I have expertise in other areas of nursing, such as PICU, Psychiatric Decision-making Unit, Mental Health Emergency Service (during Covid pandemic), Crisis Hub, Home Treatment Team services, Liaison Psychiatry, ED and CAMHS inpatient care through my work as a Bank RMN at SWLSTG MH NHS Trust.
Currently I am the Module Leader for the Leadership Module and work with the return to Practice students. I have a good knowledge of Pharmacology and the Mental Health Act (1983), Mental Capacity Act (2005), Depravation of Liberties Safeguards, Child and Adult Safeguarding, Substance Misuse, Personality Disorders, working with the Prevent strategy and radicalised service users, and working with families and carers within the Triangle of Care.
I was awarded a prize as the Most Innovative Lecturer at Kingston University in 2019.
I am proud to be an External Examiner at the University of Brighton for the BSc Nursing course.
