I am a registered social worker with over 20 years of experience. I previously practiced social work in the Caribbean, before working in the UK, in Local Authority Child Protection Teams. I teach across the Department of Social Work and Social Care, mainly working on the BA (Hons) Working with Children and Young People; Social Pedagogy programme specialising in safeguarding. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I am also a Trustee for the Social Pedagogy Professional Association. My research interests include working with men with an emphasis on fathers and domestic violence, and I am a Caring Dads Facilitator. As well as using stories, mainly through the medium of film, to educate and bring about positive systemic change. Some examples are a documentary series exploring the experiences of Black and Ethnic minority male social workers and a film capturing ‘Kingston Students Reflection of Social Pedagogy'.
