Mr Joel Antoine-Wilkinson

About

Designer, educator and researcher practicing in visual communication. Lecturer at Kingston University on the BA Hons Graphic Design program and leading an independent design practice. Both my teaching and practice explores the parallel approaches between architecture and visual communication. A consideration and concern for context and content through form, materiality, typography, imagery and concept. I work with a desire to create intentional experiences across a variety of applications whilst working with a broad range of collaborators to create projects that find dialogue between those involved to create something both familiar and new that is true to the ambitions and requirements of a project. Primarily working across the fields of art, design, fashion, architecture, music and community programmes. I work in design as a space to communicate ideas, learn, inform and to be enjoyed on multiple levels.

As part of my previous experience with internationally recognised design studios HelloMe (Berlin) and Graphic Thought Facility (London), I have worked with a range of clients on various projects and output. With HelloMe, notable projects have included the identity, website and environmental graphics for Kavi Gupta Gallery in Chicago (2016). As well as websites for Berlin based designer Nadine Goepfert (2017), in addition publications for artist and writers Irena Haiduk (2016) and Armen Avanessian (2017) published by Sternberg Press. In London working with design studio Graphic thought Facility I have worked on projects for Vitra, Chatsworth House and publications for Gagosian Gallery. Independently I have developed the identity and publication for the architectural critique platform Sound Advice (2021 – ongoing). I have also created the identity and website for Max Radford Gallery (2023 – ongoing) as well as the third digital issue website for fashion, culture and arts magazine NATAAL (2023).
