Mr Jay Thakkar

About

I started my journey in pharmacy in India where I completed my Bachelor's in Pharmacy. After that, I moved to the UK to pursue my Master of Science degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences. In 2010, I registered in the UK as a pharmacist, completed my Overseas Pharmacist Accreditation Programme (OSPAP) at Kingston University, and registered with GPhC in 2012 as a pharmacist. I worked as a pharmacy manager for a community pharmacy for a couple of years before embarking on the journey to become an independent prescriber. In 2017, I received my annotation as an independent prescriber on the GPhC register from the University of Hertfordshire. I have been using and improving my clinical skills as a clinical pharmacist at several GP practices and PCNs across London and Essex. Currently, I am pursuing my Master of Science degree in Advanced Clinical Practice from City University, London, and continuing to thrive and improve.

I will be working as a part-time teaching fellow at Kingston University, teaching clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice. On the days when I am not teaching, I will continue my work as a superintendent pharmacist, prescribing pharmacist at GP practices, bank hospital pharmacist, and foundation pharmacist trainer.
