I am a designer, business leader, educator and author, with over 25 years' industry experience. I have co-founded three creative businesses since 1998, and have been actively involved in education throughout my career. I have been leading the Interaction Strand on the BA Graphic Design course since 2019, an elective pathway for students in level 6.
I have also taught at UAL (Creative Computing Institute, CSM and LCC), Brighton, Winchester, and The Prince's Trust. I studied BA Graphic Design at Central Saint Martins (1994–1997). I am currently studying for an MSc in Geographic Data Science at Birkbeck, University of London.
My professional practice is concerned with how design and technology can affect positive social and ecological change. I believe that inclusive design and diversity of thought leads to more accessible, intuitive work. I relish projects that challenge pre-conceptions and require deep analysis of complex topics, and I'm passionate about the potential creative thinking has to spawn new ventures.
I've been founding partner and creative director of design studio Applied Works since 2005, working with clients including the BBC, The Times, Chatham House, Columbia University, Climate Arc and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. In 2016, I co-authored Around the World with the Ingreedies, an illustrated children's food book, published by Laurence King.
