Dr Ted Donchev

About

I am an Associate Professor in Structural Engineering with 10 years' industrial and 20 years' academic experience in research, teaching and project supervision. I am a Chartered Structural Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Structural Engineers; Member and Past Chairmen of the Branch Committee of Surrey Regional Group and member of Educational Committee of IStructE.

I am a Chairmen of the Editorial Board and Honorary Editor of Forensic Engineering Journal (ICE). I review eleven international journals, am editorial board member of four of them and sit on the technical committees of three international conferences. I also lead research projects investigating topics such as Prestressing with FRP reinforcement, Hybrid and FRP infill plates for shear walls, NDT applications in structural engineering and fire resistance of structural elements. I have published over 100 papers for global conferences and journals in the field of advanced technologies in structural engineering.

In aspect of PhD supervision I am Leading Supervisor of 10 PhD students till their successful completion and Leading Supervisor of 5 PhD students at the moment

My teaching is mainly on structural design of Steel Structures, following Eurocode 3 as a design basis. I am a Course Leader for Structural Design and Construction Management MSc courses. I am a Fellow of Higher Education Academy.
