About

I am a quantitative geographer and GIScientist with an active interest in the quantitative appreciation and geo-visualisation of changing patterns of risks and crimes. Specifically, I work on

Geographical Criminology: Exploring and modelling the spatial-temporal transition of the patterns of crime, with focus on the spatial collocation of crimes, seasonal resonance between crimes, emergence and displacement of crime hotspots following targeted policing.

Urban Analysis: Interpreting the spatial patterns and changes of urban landscape to understand the association between vulnerable population and various risks (property crimes, riot, and epidemic).

Spatial Analysis and Modelling: Developing methods of spatial analysis, spatial statistics, network analysis, geo-surveillance and hotspot detection for crime and risk analysis.

Data Science and Geo-visualisation: Developing tools for data-analytics and constructing spatial-temporal 3D GIS models for interpreting urban, crime, epidemiological, and other social-science data.

My research has been carried out mainly through interdisciplinary collaboration with academic and industry partners including London Mayor's Office, Metropolitan Police Service, Home Office and Office for National Statistics.
