Dr Hannah Brett

About

I am a lecturer in the Department of Psychology, with a particular interest in Developmental Psychology. I obtained my BSc (Hons) Psychology from Keele University in 2017, and my MSc in Psychological Research Methods at the University of Sheffield in 2020. I completed my PhD at Goldsmiths, University of London in 2024. My thesis examined how different family factors may contribute to the risk of bullying involvement during adolescence, and the mediating role of family and school relationships. In particular, I am interested in between-sibling bullying, and the experiences of children living in social care. During my PhD, I worked as an Associate Lecturer at Goldsmiths, UoL, before becoming a Teaching Fellow in 2023.

Research

My research interests focus on bullying involvement during childhood and adolescence. In particular, I am interested in sibling bullying, polyvictimisation, the experiences of children in social care, and how teachers and parents may mediate bullying at school and at home. I am interested in the use of both qualitative and quantitative methodologies to understand bullying.
