Teaching and learning

Education is under a critical transformation & change in the current innovation-driven knowledge era. Research findings indicate that 'the instructor and students not only actively participate in learning, instruction, and social environment building processes but also maintain mutual interactions, communications and actions to construct knowledge, to design and facilitate discussions and to build a social learning environment' (Ouyang et al., 2020, p.1). My teaching approach supports a critical collaboration and partnership with the students as it is student-led / student-centred and research-informed while supporting student engagement, active learning and cultivating a critical mindset for responsible continuous lifelong learning & development that is not constrained in a class setting.  My teaching promotes student collaboration and student-student versus student-instructor -and out-class interaction. I focus on creating an inclusive & comfortable learning environment where each student's opinion, learning needs and interests are valued.  My teaching is informed by a variety of educational/pedagogical approaches & learning activities tailor-made to the curriculum context & objectives (via application of role plays, examination of business case studies/examples, coordination of business insights inviting guest speakers during lecture sessions, in-class group discussions and other),  via the application of relevant educational, technological tools promoting an individual and collaborative, active & inclusive learning.

The anchor of my philosophy towards teaching & learning is the development of an instructor-student partnership, the development of cohesive collaboration driving creativity and innovation. My role as an educator is not only to facilitate, guide, inspire and support, prepare and equip students as future citizens for the real world but to put them in the centre of this journey and help them to conceptualize their responsibility towards their development. My teaching aims to help students develop a critical & creative mindset, enabling not only the development of problem-solving skills but also life skills and the ability to identify hidden problems and propose innovative solutions. Through my teaching, I try to nurture a 'passion' for learning,  to facilitate the students' learning journey aiming towards the development of student subject knowledge skills, broader cognitive & intellectual skills, and employability skills, but also supporting emotional &  cultural intelligence skills for our students to be able to bridge differences & understand each other (Putman, 2000); all of these skills are of critical importance nowadays in order our graduates to become the future global citizens that is one of the key aims of Higher Education Framework. My teaching approach has been evaluated in the past, being awarded the following:
