The South London Partnership represents the boroughs of Kingston, Richmond, Merton, Sutton, Croydon, Wandsworth and Bromley.
Following on from a Business Fellowship project to produce an overview of the economic state of this sub-region, Dr Peter Garside from External Affairs was invited to provide a full economic assessment of the area to support the statutory local economic assessments being carried out by individual boroughs.
Dr Garside and Professor Sarah Sayce, in partnership with South London Business, produced the sub regional assessment which helps support the argument for a more sustainable polycentric development of the wider city region and details both the vulnerable and resilient elements for future development.
This also ties into other work on the sub region, including: a work and skills strategy, a transport strategy and a sub regional prospectus. However, it is now also forming part of the sub region's intelligence on how to approach the possibility of establishing a Local Enterprise Partnership.
This is something that Kingston University is very keen to be involved in as it may provide the framework for future funding within the sub region and will put the University firmly on the sub regional map in terms of expanding its business engagement portfolio and delivering higher education provision in partner boroughs.
