Higher education talks

Our Education Liaison staff, supported by our friendly and experienced student ambassadors, can deliver a range of presentations for both students and parents to share key information and advice concerning higher education.

We offer talks and workshops on the following topics and can combine several topics into one presentation where necessary. If you have any requests for topics not listed here please get in touch.

• The UCAS application process – an introduction to all aspects of the application process and timeline including using Track to make choices, UCAS Extra and Clearing.

• Writing an effective personal statement – a guide to what admissions tutors are looking for in a personal statement, common mistakes to avoid and how to make the most of student strengths and experiences.

• Student finance – an overview of the financial support available to students including the latest information on tuition fee loans, maintenance loans, student loan repayment, budgeting and the financial benefits of university. 

• Choosing the right course and university – a session that supports students in the difficult task of researching and selecting the best choice for them, discussing what factors to consider and where to find reliable information to guide decisions.

• The benefits of higher education – this talk is particularly useful for students who may not have considered going to university, outlining the reasons for further study and hearing from current university students.

• Student life – an opportunity to hear directly from our student ambassadors about a range of topics such as making friends, student accommodation, academic life and budgeting.
