Despite several research on expatriates' interpersonal relationships with Host Country Nationals across different cultures for Knowledge transfer in MNCs, there have been a paucity of research focused on the impact of the multi-ethnic and tribalistic culture of Nigeria on the knowledge transfer process of Multinational Corporations. The Oil and Gas sector of Nigeria has been its economic stay for decades with a higher number of MNCs operating in the sector compared with other sectors of the country, and thus the sector of focus for this study. This research therefore explores the perspectives of host country nationals as well as expatriates in this sector regarding their socialisation process in a tribalistic environment such as Nigeria; given the key role such interpersonal relationships play in the efficiency of the knowledge transfer process of MNCs. The Social identity theory of Tajfel and Turner, 1986 is utilised.
