Kingston alumni based in the UAE gathered for the second alumni event on 24 January. The reunion, which took place at the Intersect by Lexus venue at the heart of Dubai's International Financial Centre, was attended by 12 alumni from Dubai and neighbouring Emirates of Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Among the attendees was alumnus and CEO of one of the Middle East's largest Chartered Professional Quantity Surveying practices, whose company hosts around 50 Kingston students each year in Dubai for a week of industry-related experience.
We were also delighted to welcome a recent Kingston School of Art research alumna, who became the first Emirati woman to graduate with a PhD in fine arts from the UK, and now an Assistant Professor at Sharjah University's College of Fine Arts and Design.
Alumni in attendance ranged from the class of 1989 up to 2016, and from industries including business, media, finance and banking, construction, technology, marketing, education, aerospace and design, and from a range of diverse nationalities. The alumni enjoyed reminiscing about their time at Kingston and are keen to develop alumni activities in the city given how important networking is in the UAE.
Christopher Neil, International Officer for the Middle East, said: "We look forward to building an active group of Kingston alumni in the UAE and across the Middle East."
