Recent social work graduate Shanti Boafor, has won a silver award at the National Social Worker of the Year awards in the Student Social Worker of the Year category.
Shanti said: "I'm very pleased to have won the silver student category award for the National Social Worker Awards. I will not let it collect dust! I will continue to work hard to produce better outcomes for the children and families I work with. At the same time, I will keep on promoting the profession to the media and public."
Having just completed her Masters in Social Work (MSW), Shanti was the winner of the KU Talent 2014 Future Leader award and has secured a social work position with a local London council. She has also had articles published on the College of Social Work website as well as other online publications.
Shanti was nominated for her award by lecturer Dr Wilson Muleya, associate professor, MSW course director and deputy head of the School of Social Work.
He congratulated Shanti saying: "You are a great ambassador for the MSW, Kingston University and St George's, University of London."
