A summer to remember: short film celebrates the Olympics in Kingston

Posted Thursday 20 December 2012

The summer of 2012 was a once-in-a-generation experience. To celebrate all the events that went on in Kingston during the London 2012 Games, Kingston's Web and Multimedia team worked with students and the Royal Borough of Kingston to produce a short film.

Andy Belsham, senior technical consultant in the Web and Multimedia team was first approached by John Haynes, head of communications at the borough. The brief was simple: to capture on film as many events and activities over the summer as possible.

Multimedia web analyst Justin Howard was the lead camera operator and technical adviser within the team. Helped by Kingston film and media students, they spent the summer filming local Olympic and cultural events.

Andy said: "It was an extremely busy summer, but one that we all enjoyed immensely. We are very happy and proud to have been involved in this project. We've already received praise and thanks from the council and I believe they will be using the film to promote Kingston as the vibrant and energetic town that it is.
