Kingston University and Santander, through its Santander Universities Global Division, signed an agreement at Dorich House Museum on 11 December that will set up, among other activities, scholarships for students to study at the University.

Santander will fund scholarships and mobility awards for students and/or staff to study within the UK or overseas, as well as entrepreneurial initiatives such as round table discussions and pitching events. The agreement was signed by Vice-Chancellor Julius Weinberg and Luis Juste, director Santander Universities UK.

Professor Weinberg said the University was delighted with the new partnership. "We are the top university in the UK for graduate start ups, so this is very relevant to us. This exciting partnership dovetails perfectly with our strategy to build ever stronger links with business for the benefit of students, industry and society as a whole. We are looking forward to working closely with Santander on applied research, technology transfer and knowledge management – particularly within the Spanish-speaking world."

Luis Juste said: "We have been wanting to partner with Kingston for a long time so today we are delighted to say that the University is now part of the big Santander Universities family. Our long-term partnership aims to promote international collaboration and the exchange of knowledge and to enhance the University's excellent work and thus contribute to the development and prosperity of our society."
