Kingston University has appointed a senior leader committed to embedding service excellence throughout the student journey as its new Executive Director of Student Services. Louisa Green, currently Academic Registrar and Director of Student Experience at Goldsmiths, University of London, will join Kingston's  Senior Leadership Team in April.

A firm believer in the importance of listening to students' views to ensure they are supported as effectively as possible throughout their studies, Ms Green will take responsibility for the Directorate for Students. She will lead a number of key initiatives, including the transition to a more streamlined model of student services.

With a career spanning 26 years at six universities and two national agencies, Ms Green brings a deep understanding of the higher education sector to her new appointment. At Goldsmiths she is currently responsible for leading a large Directorate delivering support services to a diverse student community covering the full student lifecycle, from admission to graduation. She has previously overseen a number of major projects, including the transformation of student-facing services at Goldsmiths and launch of the PhD academy at the London School of Economics.

At Kingston, Ms Green will lead the work of the Directorate for Students delivering key elements of the Town House Strategy. She will support colleagues to provide high-quality, student-centred services to enable students to make the most of their time at the university and go on to launch successful careers. She will also be heavily involved in work to embed the essential knowledge and skills sought after by industry and business across the University's course curriculum through its Future Skills programme.

Ms Green said she had been particularly impressed with the University's strategy and its progressive approach to providing excellent support for students throughout their degree studies. "The ability to anticipate what different students need, and to be proactive and meet those needs, is the crux of having excellent student services," she said. "It's essential that we enable student voices to be heard and respond and act upon what they tell us so that we are always keeping students at the heart of our decision making."

Vice-Chancellor Steven Spier said the University would benefit from Ms Green's track record in redesigning and delivering the highest quality student services. "Louisa's expertise in developing student services that align with the vision and mission of an institution will be hugely important in achieving our ambition to provide an outstanding student experience for our students," he added. "She will play an integral part in developing our students' skills and knowledge to enhance their life chances."
