Congratulations to the winter graduates of the Class of 2018!

Posted Thursday 17 January 2019

Postgraduate students from Kingston School of Art and the faculties of Science, Engineering and Computing and Business and Social Sciences celebrated their achievements at our winter graduation ceremonies last week. Among the more than 2,000 students who crossed the stage at the Rose Theatre was 82 year old Hilary Forde-Chalkly, who celebrated her MA in Creative Writing after having left school at 15 with one O-Level. We're proud of the newest members of our alumni family and would like to welcome the Class of 2018!

Paying it forward

Graduates at our January ceremonies not only celebrated their own achievements but also chose to support students following in their footsteps. Through individual donations of just £3, generously matched by our alumni, the 2018 Graduating Class Gift total now stands at an incredible £3,751, more than ever before

£8,731 raised by students, for students in 3 years

Since 2016, graduating students have given £4,365.50 towards programmes dedicated to supporting their fellow students. Our alumni have matched this, meaning that £8,731 has been made available to students to enable them to succeed at Kingston. The Class of 2016 provided an additional bursary for a student who had left care, while the Class of 2017 created an extra emergency hardship grant which enabled PhD student Arshia to complete his research into cervical cancer. Over the coming weeks, we will be contacting the Class of 2018 to take their votes on which of our projects they would like their year's Class Gift to go towards.

Alumni support of Kingston students

We would love to welcome you back to campus in 2019. If you would like to find out more about getting involved at Kingston, please complete our Alumni Champions form, or email alumni@kingston.ac.uk. We look forward to hearing from you!
