Kingston University has been named as one of the top 50 institutions in England for student job prospects in the latest Destination of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey.

The newly-released figures show that 95.1 per cent of students graduating from the University in 2015-16 were in work or further study six months on up from 93.5 per cent the previous year.

The University has seen a year-on-year increase in students achieving positive career outcomes since 2012 in the annual performance indicator for employment tables, published by the Government's Higher Education Statistics Agency.

The release of the latest figures comes after the University's careers service KU Talent was recognised for its work in supporting students into employment at the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) Development Awards earlier this year.

KU Talent scooped the accolade for best preparation for work strategy by a HE careers service, and was shortlisted for three other awards, putting it in the top ten university careers services in the United Kingdom for its commitment to helping boost students' job prospects.

The University has also been rated one of the top institutions in the country for graduate start-ups in the Higher Education Business and Community Interaction Survey for eight years running. Last year some 289 students and graduates were supported in getting their companies off the ground.

Pro Vice-Chancellor for Learning and Teaching Dr Clarissa Wilks said the strong performance in the latest DLHE survey reflected the wide-ranging work being undertaken to provide students with the excellent teaching, support and guidance they needed to progress into the workplace or the next phase of their education.

"The foundations for building a successful career start with delivering the highest quality teaching for all our students," she said. "Alongside this, Kingston University places great importance on providing dedicated careers and employability support as well as developing strong partnerships with employers and industry professionals.

"This is a key part of ensuring they are best prepared for the next stage of their career or study when they graduate."

In April the University was awarded the teaching excellence accolade at the Guardian 2017 University Awards, receiving specific praise for the inclusivity and accessibility of its courses.
