Kingston University celebrates success of research, postgraduate and undergraduate students during week of graduation ceremonies

Posted Tuesday 17 January 2017

This week, 2,668 graduates join a thriving global alumni network of 200,000 as they cross the stage at the Rose Theatre at their graduation ceremony.

Alongside conferring the student awards, the University is pleased to honour alumnus, Oscar-nominated screenwriter and award-winning author Nick Hornby with the award of Doctor of Arts honoris causa in recognition of his outstanding contribution to literature and reading pleasure. Nick has written several novels, one of which About a boy, was chosen as the inaugural title for the Kingston University Big Read, a shared reading scheme that helps new students settle in to life on campus.

Graduation ceremonies are a high-point in the University's calendar, and in order to improve the graduate experience and ensure the occasion is as memorable and enjoyable for students and their families the team are always looking for new ideas and developments.

Changes include introducing a bespoke champagne service to the ceremony receptions and working with an external company StageClip, to produce a new innovative product that enables a video clip of the moment each graduate crosses the stage to be downloaded straight to a mobile device and shared on social media.
