Kingston University has launched a project to give health and social care students the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge by supporting people living with dementia. The Special Interest Group (SIG) is being led by senior lecturer in social work Maria Brent and aims to raise awareness of dementia and provide students with volunteering opportunities in the local community, which will benefit them both professionally and personally, as well as supporting those living with dementia and their families and carers.

Plaudits have been flowing for the Dean of the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Education, Professor Andy Kent, who is retiring after a 37-year career in healthcare and higher education. Andy, who has spent almost seven years leading the Faculty, run jointly by Kingston University and St George's, University of London, has overseen a suite of major developments during his tenure as Dean. They have included the addition of a suite of high quality simulation facilities to enhance students' learning and the creation of a host of award-winning degree programmes. He has also steered the Faculty through the Covid-19 pandemic, with many students and staff contributing to the national response.

Innovate engineering designs brought to life by Kingston University were unveiled to the school pupils who dreamt them up during an event at the University's Stirling Prize-winning Town House building. The three prototypes built by staff and students from the University's School of Engineering and the Environment were winners of the London and Jersey contests of the ‘If You Were An Engineer, What Would You Do?' Leaders Award competition, run by Primary Engineer. The annual event sees pupils between the ages of three and 18 challenged to interview engineers, identify problems and design solutions to them.
