This course is for absolute beginners. It aims to give students a basic knowledge of reading, listening, spoken and written skills in a dynamic and communicative way, through individual, pair and group work and studio-based and authentic texts. The focus is on accuracy as well as communication.

This course will provide students with the foreign language skills to enable them to interact satisfactorily in survival situations and social encounters and to further their awareness of related aspects of the foreign culture and environment.
- Entry requirements: Completion of Level 1 or three months' prior language learning
- Level 2 module is offered in October 2024 and January 2024

- Method of delivery: Blended learning (half in person at Penrhyn Road and half online via MS Teams)
The aim of this module is to equip students with further linguistic skills to enable them to communicate in a number of familiar work and social situations and respond accordingly; to broaden the students' awareness of aspects of the foreign culture.
- Entry requirements: Completion of Level 2 or six months' prior language learning
