All postgraduate taught (masters) applicants (excluding Masters by Research MPhil/PhD) who require a student visa must pay a £5,000 non-refundable deposit, which is treated as part of the first instalment of the tuition fee, before students can request a CAS. Students who are sponsored by their Government, company or a regulated student loan scheme and undergraduate offer holders are exempt from paying a deposit. Evidence of the sponsorship or loan must be provided as part of the CAS request process.
